Resumen:
Este ensayo presenta los fundamentos epistemológicos de tres modalidades de la educación general que se vinieron desarrollando durante el siglo XX y lo que va del XXI. La pertinencia y actualidad de cada una de ellas, así como su vinculación con las nuevas teorías del conocimiento, está estrechamente relacionada con los fundamentos que las sostiene. De ahí que se proponga al empirismo instrumentalista de John Dewey como el fundamento epistemológico más apropiado para la educación general en el siglo XXI.
Abstract:
This essay presents the epistemological foundation of three general education modes that have been developing during the 20th century and the first decade of this century. The pertinence and actuality of each one, as well as their relationship with new knowledge theories, are closely related to the concepts which support them. Departing from this notion, John Dewey’s empiric instrumentalism is proposed as the most appropriate epistemological foundation for general education in the 21st century.
